Diversity in Clinical Trials

Restoring cellular homeostasis

At SPARC, we believe that everyone deserves a fair chance to benefit from the latest advances in medical research. That is why we are driven by our core values of innovation, passion, integrity and humility to create and orchestrate inclusive and equitable research initiatives that reflect the diversity of the world we live in. Our mission is to become a key contributor to advancing health equity and improving health outcomes for all.

We envision a future where equitable access to groundbreaking research is not an exception but a standard practice – a future where every clinical trial reflects the rich diversity of the world’s population. Through unwavering dedication and innovative strategies rooted in inclusivity, we are committed to reshaping the future of medical research through accessible, representative clinical trials that empower individuals from all backgrounds to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge. In pursuit of this vision, we are devoted to improving access to clinical research as a care option and establishing SPARC as a trusted partner to patients and healthcare providers worldwide.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Goals:
At SPARC, we are committed to advancing the following imperatives designed to ensure that we deploy proactive, end-to-end approaches – achieving clinical trial diversity across our clinical development programs through a steadfast aspiration to create a more equitable and representative medical research landscape:

  • Championing Diversity:
    • Ensuring meaningful representation of racially and ethnically diverse populations in our clinical trials
  • Amplifying Patient Voice:
    • Eliciting input from patients who represent the intended treatment population and integrating diverse perspectives to shape the design of inclusive clinical trials
  • Building Trust and Collaboration:
    • Fostering trust-based partnerships with community stakeholders, organizations and advocacy groups to raise awareness and empower community members to make informed decisions
  • Tailoring Solutions:
    • Providing culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate clinical research educational materials
  • Accessible Research:
    • Alleviating obstacles to participation and improving access by bringing trials to patients
  • Accountability:
    • Measuring impact and holding ourselves accountable to our diversity, equity and inclusion goals

It is important that participants of all backgrounds take part in clinical research in order to understand any differences in treatment response based on various factors – including race, ethnicity, gender and age. Some groups have not always been included in research studies, even though they might face health challenges more often. Including a broad group of research participants helps scientists understand how a new medicine may work for different individuals and improve the development of treatment options for everyone.
SPARC is conducting the following clinical trial to evaluate its assets in different potential therapies:

1  CTRI/2023/10/059183
A Randomized, Double-Blind, Vehicle-Controlled, Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability, & Pharmacokinetics of topically applied SCD-153 in Healthy Volunteers
